How Can You Get Involved?


Once your children go off to school, the best way to stay connected is through direct involvement in the Parent Teacher Association.  Opportunities abound with the Westbrook/Glen Grove PTA…


Join the PTA –The 2010 PTA membership cost is only $12 annually but is worth much more, and it is the only way to receive a school directory with class lists, as well as names and phone numbers of everyone in both schools. The PTA offers cultural arts programs, enhances the student learning community by providing educational materials, community building programs such as our Fall Carnival and Pancake Breakfast. The PTA saves you time and money by organizing school supply purchases, providing financial stipends to teacher’s classrooms,  providing books to the libraries and classrooms, and so much more.

PTA meetings – PTA meetings are the third Tuesday of every month. This is the best way to hear what is happening in our District and at our schools.  Both Dr. Lori Hinton, principal at Westbrook and Helena Vena, principal at Glen Grove attend the meetings as well as teacher representatives.

Event volunteers – Throughout the course of the year, the PTA hosts many activities and events which cater to our schools’ communities.  This is your chance to teach your children through example about the importance of community service.  Watch your children’s faces light up as they see you behind the booth at the Fall Carnival running a game or when the walk into the Book Fair and see you at the cash register.  Your cool factor just went up… Volunteering doesn’t have to take hours of your time, sometimes one hour is all we need.

Fundraising


Times have altered the way most school districts approach fundraising. A lack of funding and inability to approve measures intended to provide educational relief have left teachers, parents, and PTA organizations more dependent than ever on each other.
