Westbrook / Glen Grove PTA

Amazing Minds offers 18 interactive topics that will expand your child's knowledge of the world and reinforce the academic skills taught in elementary school. With a 12:1 student teacher ratio, the classes are taught by instructors trained in implementing the creative and unique Amazing Minds curriculum

Blossom Boutique: (Chair and Co-chair)

The chair and team schedule the event, book the vendors, arrange the space configuration, set the fee structure, book volunteers, market the event and work the event.

Book Fair: (Chair and Co-chair for Westbrook and Chair and Co-chair for Glen Grove)
The book fair chairpersons will head the committee that shall plan and direct the book fairs at their respective schools. There shall be two book fair chairpersons for the Westbrook Book Fair which is a two year a rotating position. The Glen Grove book fair chairperson(s) is also a two year rotating position.

Chess Club: (Chair and Co-chair)

Chess Chair and Co-Chair manage the relationship with the external chess teacher and facilitate

Cultural Enrichment: (Chair and Co-chair)
The cultural enrichment chairpersons will arrange for appropriate and enriching programs to be presented to the students at their respective schools. This will be a rotating position with both schools being represented.

Directory: (Chair and Co-chair)
The directory chairperson will head the committee responsible for the school directory. They will work with the printer and District 34 contact to get the information, put it in the proper format, send it to the printer, proof the result and organize dissemination.

Environmental: (Chair and Co-chair)
The Environmental Chairperson will head the committee that coordinates environmental activities at both schools.

Fifth Grade Picnic Coordinator (Chair and Co-chair)
The fifth grade picnic chairperson will work with the Glen Grove principal and staff to plan and staff the fifth grade end of the year picnic.

Global Language: (Chair and Co-chair)
The global language chairpersons shall head the committee that will be responsible for working with Kira Maar in organizing and coordinating the Global Language Program at their respective schools.

Health and Safety: (1 - Chair 1- Lice checker co-chair and 1- ATA Safety Seminar co-chair)
The health and safety representative manages the two main responsibilities: 1) coordinating volunteers for the full school lice checks the first day back to school after winter break and 2) coordinating vision and hearing screening volunteers during the school year. The health and safety chairs will also work with the principals, school staff, and parents to take on other school safety issues as necessary.

Hearts of Glenview: (1 - Chair and 1 - Co-chair)

This is a philanthropy project in which most District 34 clusters participate. Proceeds of wooden hearts decorated by the children in each school and sold at an event support several local charities. The chair and co-chair coordinate the students to decorate the hearts at each school.

Staff Appreciation: (1 - Westbrook Chair and 1 - Glen Grove Chair)
The Staff Appreciation Chair will work to recognize the efforts of the teachers and staff at our schools on behalf of the PTA. This will include, but is not limited to, special recognition at both schools during National Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.

Escrip/Gift Cards: (1 - Chair and 1 - Co-chair)

The Escrip/Gift Card chairpersons will work together to market and assist parents in registration of store rebate type programs as well as distribute, tally and submit gift card sales at their respective schools.

Directory: (1 - Chair and 1 - Co-chair)

The Directory Chairperson will work with District 34 to obtain class lists and student names and addresses to submit to vendor for publication. Chairperson must obtain at least three bids for production of the directories. Ensure directories are distributed only to PTA members as well as any family who has paid additional monies for a directory within the school.

Fall Carnival (1 - Chair and 1 - co-chair)

The Fall Carnival Chairpersons shall take charge of the annual fall festival.

Innisbrook Wrapping Paper Sales (1 - Chair and 1 - co-chair)

The Chairpersons shall take charge of the annual sales.

Ice Cream Social (1 - Chair and 1 - Co-chair for the Westbrook event and 1 - chair and 1 - co-chair for the Glen Grove event)

The Ice Cream Chairpersons shall take charge of the annual festival.

Membership: (1 - Chair)
The Membership Chairperson will coordinate the data entry of all PTA membership, volunteer form data, and parent e-mails into an appropriate database software. This database will be distributed as needed to the volunteer chairs, electronic communications chair, and executive board.

School Supplies (1 - Chair and 1 - Co-chair)

The Chairpersons shall take charge of the annual sales and distribution.
